Reliance Jio Partners with IIT Bombay for Bharat GPT Program and Unveils Plans for Jio’s Own TV OS
Reliance Jio has recently announced its collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) for the Bharat GPT program. In addition to this, the company has revealed its intention to introduce its own operating system for televisions.
The inauguration of Techfest, Asia’s Largest Science and Technology Festival, took place at IIT-B yesterday. Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, delivered a keynote address during the event and shared several significant updates.
The Bharat GPT program will focus on developing a large language model specifically tailored to meet the requirements of the Indian market. Jio is banking on artificial intelligence to revolutionize its range of products and services. Ambani also disclosed plans for the launch of AI-based offerings in the media, commerce, communication, and device sectors.
Our collaboration with IIT Bombay on the Bharat GPT program is a testament to our ongoing efforts in this field.
We are dedicated to integrating AI not only as a standalone division within our organization but also across all our business verticals.
Jio is expected to introduce a new TV operating system in the near future. Currently, the market is dominated by the Android TV OS, and it remains unclear whether Jio OS will be a proprietary system or will utilize AOSP as a foundation for its development.
Ambani is bullish about India’s market potential and the growth of AI. He envisions India as the “preeminent innovation hub” for the next decade and is optimistic about its prospects of becoming a USD 6 trillion economy by the end of the decade.
