Airtel Launches New Tariff Plans Focused on Voice and SMS Services Following TRAI’s Directive

BSNL vs airtel

Airtel Data Free Plans

Airtel has become the first telecom operator to introduce specialized tariff plans for voice and SMS services, in line with TRAI’s recent directive. TRAI’s mandate requires operators to offer separate Special Tariff Vouchers (STVs) for voice and SMS services, aimed at catering to specific user groups, such as senior citizens and rural residents, who require customized service options.

Rs. 509 Plan

The Rs. 509 plan provides unlimited local and roaming calls, along with 900 SMS messages, valid for 84 days (approximately 3 months). For users who also need data, the Rs. 569 plan includes 6GB of data along with the same benefits.

Rs. 1999 Plan

The Rs. 1999 plan offers unlimited local and roaming calls and 3600 SMS messages, valid for one year (365 days). Previously, this plan also included 24GB of data, but if users wish to add data now, the plan has been updated to Rs. 2249.

Once the SMS limit is reached, local SMS will be charged at Re. 1 per message, and STD SMS at Rs. 1.5 per message. Additional benefits of these plans include access to the Airtel Xstream App, Apollo 24|7 Circle membership, and free Hello Tunes.

These two plans are already available for recharge on the Airtel Thanks app and website, and other telecom operators are expected to launch similar options in the near future.
