Airtel made a significant announcement at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) on October 1st, 2022, revealing its plans to introduce 5G services in eight cities. Just five days later, on October 6th, the company officially launched its 5G network. Today, the company proudly announced that it has surpassed the milestone of 50 million unique 5G customers on its network.
Impressively, the company achieved one million unique 5G users within just 30 days of the commercial launch of 5G. By February 2023, the company had crossed the 10 million unique 5G user mark.
In addition to this achievement, the company also revealed that its 5G Plus services are now available across all districts in India. The company stated that its 5G Plus service can be accessed in all 28 states and eight union territories.
From the picturesque Balia in Bihar to the historically rich Cuttack in Odisha, from the quaint Ramgarh district in Jharkhand to the wildlife haven of Bishnoi in Rajasthan, from the serene Serai of Kerala to the marshy villages of Kashmir, Airtel customers throughout the country are now enjoying lightning-fast speeds on the digital superhighway.
Randeep Sekhon, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Bharti Airtel, expressed his delight at the rapid adoption of 5G by millions of customers. He emphasized that Airtel had achieved this milestone ahead of schedule, expanding its 5G coverage from one million users in October 2022 to an impressive 50 million users within just 12 months of launch. Sekhon also assured customers that Airtel’s expansion efforts would continue at full speed, with the goal of nationwide coverage and enabling all customers to embrace the 5G era.
