Google New Search Features
Google has recently unveiled two new search features that leverage cutting-edge generative AI capabilities and the innovative Lens technology. The first of these features, ‘Circle to Search,’ represents a novel approach to conducting searches on Android devices without the need to switch between apps.
Circle to Search enables users to perform instant searches using intuitive gestures such as circling, highlighting, scribbling, or tapping on the desired search element. By simply long-pressing the home button or navigation bar, users can activate Circle to Search and then employ their preferred gesture to quickly locate similar, shoppable items from various online retailers.
Additionally, Google has enhanced its existing multisearch feature, which allows users to simultaneously search with text and images. Through the integration of generative AI, this feature now delivers a more interactive and insightful experience for users. When utilizing the Google app to ask questions based on objects captured by the camera or uploaded images, users will receive AI-powered insights that go beyond simple visual matches, enabling them to gather key information swiftly.
The Circle to Search feature is set to roll out on January 31 for select premium Android smartphones, including the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and the new Samsung Galaxy S24 series, across all languages and locations. Meanwhile, the upgraded multisearch results will be available this week in English within the U.S., with a limited preview in other regions for users who have opted into the Search Generative Experience (SGE).
