Xiaomi has officially announced the launch of its highly anticipated Xiaomi 14 series and its new HyperOS. The event is scheduled to take place on October 26th in China, shortly after Qualcomm unveils its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Leica Summilex Lens

The company has already confirmed that the Xiaomi 14 series will feature the renowned Leica Summilux lens and will be the first smartphones to run on HyperOS, gradually replacing the current MIUI.

Recent benchmark tests on Geekbench 5 have revealed that the Xiaomi 14 series will come with an impressive 16GB of RAM and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The device achieved a single-core score of 1698 and a multi-core score of 6260. In Geekbench 6, it scored even higher with a single-core score of 2244 and a multi-core score of 6820.

Hyper OS

Xiaomi’s Hyper OS is set to be a significant overhaul since the introduction of MIUI in 2010. According to CEO Lei Jun, MIUI has not only improved the Android native system’s interaction layer but has also made substantial changes in the system framework, performance scheduling, and kernel capabilities by integrating into the Linux kernel.

Lei Jun further explained that the company has been conducting parallel research and development on Mina OS, a self-developed universal system, since 2019. Some of its technical achievements have been integrated into Xiaomi Hyper OS, which has been successfully tested in laboratory settings and implemented in small-scale production.

In 2021, Xiaomi made the decision to enter the automotive industry and began developing car OS. In early 2022, the company decided to unify the software architecture of MIUI, Vela, Mina, and car OS. As a result, Xiaomi’s operating system’s underlying layers have been merged.

With a dedicated research and development team of over 5,000 individuals and two years of development, Xiaomi’s Hyper OS aims to provide seamless integration of “people, cars, and families,” according to the CEO.

More details about the Xiaomi 14 series and Hyper OS are expected to be revealed in the coming days leading up to the launch later this week.
